MISSION STATEMENT: The Southwest Regional Archaeology Program promotes the preservation and stewardship of cultural resources by providing professional advice to landowners and state land managers, presentations and other outreach to the public, and conducting research within the region to identify, record, and interpret significant archaeological sites.

ABOUT THE SOUTHWEST REGIONAL ARCHAEOLOGY PROGRAM: The Southwest Regional Archaeology Program is made possible by funding from the National Park Service, the Louisiana Division of Archaeology, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL-Lafayette). The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette hosts the program. |

OTHER REGIONAL AND STATION ARCHAEOLOGISTS There are also regional archaeologists for the northwest (Mr. Jeff Girard), northeast (Dr. Joe Saunders), and southeast (Dr. Rob Mann) portions of the state. Additionally, there is a station archaeologist for the Poverty Point State Historic Site (Dr. Diana Greenlee), and an archaeologist for the Greater New Orleans Archaeology Program based at the University of New Orleans (Ms. Andrea White). |
