Scholarships & Financial Aid

Scholarship opportunities for our degree programs are described below. Additional scholarships are available to students in a variety of degree programs. Visit the Office of Scholarships for more information. Please also visit the University's financial aid site for additional resources.

Sociology and Anthropology Scholarships

There are several scholarships available to undergraduates majoring in the Sociology and Anthropology programs.

Frankie Cagle Memorial Non-Endowed Scholarship

Applicants must be a U. S. citizen majoring in sociology, not necessarily a Louisiana resident or graduate of a Louisiana High School and be eligible to enter his/her junior and/or senior year. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Preference to be given to an older and/or returning student who has overcome some adversity in life. Should the eligibility requirements result in the scholarship becoming unduly difficult to award, the donor will be consulted to see if he would allow the selection committee to award the scholarship to the student who most closely matches the criteria in the original guidelines. Scholarship pays $1,500 per year ($750 for the Fall semester and $750 for the Spring semester).

Faye and Ed Crane Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Must be a U.S. citizen; be eligible to enter his/her junior or senior year and be enrolled full-time in the following Fall semester; have at least a 3.0 GPA and be majoring in sociology or criminal justice. Award is $500 in the Fall semester.

Willie Mae Guillory Endowed Scholarship

Must be a U. S. citizen; a Louisiana resident; a freshman, junior or senior; have a 3.0 GPA and majoring in sociology or anthropology. Scholarship pays $1,750 annually, broken into three separate annual scholarships of $583 per year ($291 per semester). Requires a 3.0 semester GPA to retain scholarship.

Dr. and Mrs. Ben Kaplan Award

Must be a graduating senior; have a 2.5 GPA and majoring in sociology. Award is a one-time payment of $400.

Child and Family Studies Scholarships

Marie Louise Comeaux Scholarship

Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior for the semesters the student is to receive the funds and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Junior League of Lafayette Endowed Scholarship

Must be a U.S. citizen and a Louisiana resident. Student must be a junior or senior and have a 3.0 GPA or better majoring in child and family studies.  Requires a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 semester GPA during Fall semester of scholarship year to retain scholarship.

Lance CPL. Daniel Lewis Memorial Endowed Scholarship
